Preimplantation Genetic Testing (PGT)

Screening embryos for genetic and chromosomal conditions before transfer — advanced testing, available in Solapur.

Preimplantation Genetic Testing (PGT)
  • PGT-A, PGT-M, PGT-SR & NICS
  • Advanced testing in Solapur
  • Performed on frozen blastocysts

About this treatment

Preimplantation Genetic Testing (PGT) examines an embryo's chromosomes or genes before it's transferred, so the healthiest embryo can be chosen. A few cells are gently biopsied from a day-5–6 blastocyst and analysed while the embryos remain safely frozen.

We offer the full range of PGT — options usually only available at large metropolitan centres, available here in Solapur: PGT-A, PGT-M, PGT-SR and non-invasive chromosomal screening (NICS).

Who it's for

  • Advanced maternal age
  • Recurrent miscarriage
  • Recurrent implantation failure
  • A known inherited genetic condition in the family
  • A previous pregnancy with a chromosomal condition

Key benefits

  • PGT-A — screens for chromosome-number abnormalities (aneuploidy)
  • PGT-M — tests for single-gene (monogenic) disorders
  • PGT-SR — detects chromosomal structural rearrangements
  • NICS — non-invasive chromosomal screening for embryo selection

Every treatment plan at Shobha IVF is personalised. The details here are a guide — your specialist will tailor each step to your unique situation.

Questions & answers

Genetic Testing (PGT) — your questions

Common questions about this treatment. Anything else? Our team is happy to talk it through.

No test is a guarantee, but PGT meaningfully improves embryo selection — reducing miscarriage risk and the chance of transferring an embryo with a tested condition. Your specialist will explain what it can and can't tell you.

The biopsy is performed by experienced embryologists on day-5–6 blastocysts using a laser, and embryos are frozen while results are awaited. It's a well-established technique.

It depends on your history — PGT-A for chromosome number, PGT-M for a known single-gene disorder, PGT-SR for structural rearrangements, or NICS as a non-invasive option. We'll guide you.

Fertility outcomes vary from person to person and depend on age, diagnosis and other individual factors; no result is guaranteed. Any success figure shown is a beta-hCG positive (pregnancy-test) rate per embryo transfer at our Solapur centre, which is not a live-birth rate.
